The Milk Roads
FORME wants to launch a wide-ranging project to promote cheese as a tourism and economic development of the territory opportunity.
Cheese tours are becoming more and more important to determine tourist destinations and the web analysis indicates a strong interest in Italian products: Gorgonzola and Parmigiano Reggiano occupy the 1st and 3rd place in terms of search volume among the Geographical Indication products between 2017 and 2019; Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino Romano are among the Internet trend topics between November 2019 and January 2020 for users from the United States, China, France, Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom (SEMrush data).
Nowadays many foreign tour operators already offer visits to dairies (included in up to 70% of tourist packages). It means that there is an incredible potential that needs to be developed to be able to organise cheese tours and experiences not only related to cheese tastings (Report on food and wine tourism 2020).
The aim is to systematically enhance both products and territories to develop and promote local producers.
This forum will be an opportunity to present data, experiences and project proposals.
